Last Resort (and Spa) Cat Rescue Every year, thousands of homeless and unwanted cats and kittens are euthanized, cats who, with love and care, would make wonderful, loving pets. The Last Resort Cat Rescue provides homes, rehabilitation and socialization for just a few of these needy little ones. With rare exceptions, we specialize in abused and special-need purebreds, taking only one or two at a time so as to provide the intense one-on-one these babies need. Last Resort relies solely on income generated by Ymircats Accessories here on our website. ![]() ![]() Seuss: Seuss is a 15-year-old silver Persian mix with gorgeous mint-green eyes. He is a large and quiet cat who would prefer a quiet home. He was abandoned by his former owner when the owner's son married. Seuss's vaccinations and testings are all up-to-date. His only problem is that he is something of a wuss - he lets the other cats push him around, preferring to back down instead of fight for his rights. As a result, he generally stays up high where he can see - on top of the fridge or on a counter in the cattery room. This big boy is an armful of love who likes nothing better than one-on-one time with a person who will pet him and talk to him. He would be best placed in a single-cat home or a home where the other resident cats are non-aggressive. Because of his timidity, is is a special-needs cat. He sometimes sprays when he feels threatened, and would need a home where the owners would be willing to work with him. ![]() ![]() Late August of 2007, I heard a cat crying outside my home. When I went out, hiding under my bushes was a tiny, terrified kitten with a badly crushed foreleg. She was filthy, full of fleas and ear mites, starving, and in pain. I rushed her to my vet, sure that we would have to amputate the leg, even if she survived at all. the vet agreed, but wanted to wait through the weekend to give her antibiotics, de-flea and de-mite her. I returned on Monday, expecting a three-legged kitten, and the vet said that just as she was about to anesthetize the kit, she noticed some muscle tremors in the leg. Would I consider giving her a couple of weeks to see if any function came back? If course, I did, and amazingly, the leg has now healed completely! We have not had to amputate so much as a toe. The paw is a little misshapen, but barely noticable. Her new name is Miracle, because she is. She is a beautiful tortie and white girl with a striking little domino across her eyes. She is friendly, very active, and believes she is a Norwegian Forest Cat since she now lives with my Wegie kittens. She will likely grow into one of those slim, lithe cats who move fast and quick. She is still a bit young to spay, and will need this done. She will be given her vaccinations this week, she is housebroken, and would make a wonderful, playful pet or as a show cat in the household pet classes! ![]() ![]() Muffin is one of the exceptions to our "abused purebred" rule - a pretty, high-white calico female shorthair, born 6/20/05, in a nearby barn. Mom is a tiny red tabby van and white who was only a year and a half old with these guys, her second litter. I trapped Mom (now named Little Van and also looking for a home), and got her leuk-tested, all shots, ears, teeth, everything checked. Muffin is the most outgoing of the litter (although the entire litter is extremely friendly and loving)- a real little fur tornado; a little schmoozer who darts in the house the minute the door opens and thinks, "I'm home!" ![]() Littermate to the little girl shown above, Cricket has beautiful markings and a coat to die for. She's quieter than her sister, but a little love bug who will sit on your lap all day! Shown in the Household Pet Kitten Class at Streamwood, IL (January 27-28, 2006), Cricket took two Best Kitten awards, and five Second Best! ![]() A copy of his mom, this is the only boy in the litter. Silas is a red mackeral tabby van with beautiful green eyes. A solemn little cat, he will sit quietly by while his boisterous sisters monopolize your lap, but just give him a turn to cuddle and listen to him purr! Any of these kittens - or their pretty little mom - would make ideal pets or show cats in the Household Pet class. All they need is a home and your love. ![]() Trixie, littermate to Luv Muffin, Silas and Cricket, is probbly the most beautiful in the entire litter. She is a brown mackeral torbie with white (a "torbie" is a tortie (Calico) color with tabby markings). Flashy, friendly, and scrappy, this little girl is petite, but doesn't let anyone push her around. She is somewhat shy, but she has assured me that she wants a home where she can be the center of attention. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Muffin and Silas
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Sody is a purebred blue point Himalayan who was left nearly dead outside the DuPage Animal Hospital. Her original owner simply dropped a carrier filled with urine, feces, and a sick little cat and left. Fortunately the caring staff found her and called me. Once fed, groomed and bathed, she became an absolutely beautiful little cat who captivates any person who sees her, so much so that we could not let her go to an adoptive home. She is our girl now, and couldn't be more loved. Registered with The International Cat Association as a household pet, Purrmeister's Rhapsody in Bleu is now a Quadruple Grand Master (Master is the pet equivalent of "Champion" status) who rules the roost and gets away with far more kitty treats than she really needs. ![]() Olivia: Livvy was another purebred Himalayan, a tiny Seal Point girl who was abandoned to fend for herself when her former owner moved. A neighbor heard her cries and Olivia found her way to us. Once we'd fed her up, loved her to death and generally spoiled her, a forever home was found for her where she is the single-cat special girl. ![]() ![]() Gus: A blue-point Himalayan was surrendered to the Humane society when his former owner became ill and could no longer keep him. Poor Gus had been an only cat and was unable to adjust to life in the Humane society. He stopped eating, and cowered in a corner. The society called us when Gussie's weight had dropped to less than five pounds and he faced euthanasia. Several months of good eating and good loving increased his weight to nearly eight pounds, his personality to a happy boy, and he now has a wonderful new home with people who adore him. ![]() ![]() Malynka is a purebred Norwegian Forest Cat who was found in a sheltr in Toledo. Her new mom and dad lost their 16-year-old Wegie girl a few months ago, and wanted another girl to complete their family. Malynka now lives in Napierville, IL with her new owners and a Norwegian Forest brother named Thor. | Adoption Application | | Return Home | Last Resort | Contact Us | Exhibitor Guide | Summary Sheet Deja Moo | Entry Form Deja Moo | Show Info Deja Moo | Online Catalog | Twisted Whiskers | Kittens | Deja Moo Moo 2008 - Mooovin' On | |
